Oulton Park 7th May
Moss MG BCV8 Championship
This was our first visit to Oulton Park to support Bernard at his second meeting there. The circuit is in the glorious Cheshire countryside with picture box towns and villages.
Bernard had to qualify on slicks, with great difficulty, as a ferocious downpour started as he left assembly with no time to change tyres. By the time the race started, after more heavy rain, the track was reasonably dry. It was a mixed grid with modsport midgets, etc. mixed in with the “big boys”. Bernard started way back down the grid and executed some marvellous driving skills to work his way towards the front. He drove a fantastic race to finish 2nd. Well done! As we had decided to stay on the Saturday night we were able to celebrate his 2nd place in true “Lep Inn” style.
(I am beginning to think that I am a jinx on the weather and will soon be banned by the HRCA from travelling outside Ireland).
