6 Hour Race Mondello

Hi all, I'm not sure how to start a new thread here, but I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the 6 hr race at Mondello next year?

I have an old Scimitar I would consider sorting out a bit, to do it. I imagine most of the cars currently in use at the races would be a bit fragile for a 6hr event, so the Scimitar would maybe plod along ok.

Anyone got a roll cage for a Scimitar?

I was half thinking of doing this, my car did lots of long distance stuff back in the 70's and 80's.
Still has a huge 80 lt tank with a 20 lt reserve, should be good for a few laps at least !!

A Scimitar would be just the thing, big old lazy engine - just ensure that the driver is not!

I did hear however that fibreglass cars were not allowed.  Mind you, this is just chat, so lets see what the regs say.

Roll cage from Safety Devices or Rollcentre iin UK.  As it has a fibreglass shell, might be best to have it fitted by them.  I seem to recall that one of the Griffin family was a rollcage specialist - Dave or Ronnie?  Kevin Mc Bride might know.

Kevin, your car would be perfect, big fuel tank - you could cruise around for 6 hours with a hamper of sandwiches and a flask of tea.  With luck and reliability, you could win, if you stay awake.

How many HRCA cars could last 6 hours?????? and is this an endurance race or a team relay??

I know the 6 Hr race notion has fallen by the wayside, but I just wondered if it was totally out the window or just lying in wait - so to speak. We are starting a new class at Kirkistown for totally standard Fiesta 1.25 Zetecs and we could probably get a few of them to enter. Mind you, it is a bargain basement class because there is not much money about. Which I suppose would not help.
