Can anyone advise me as to my cars eligibility with what appears to be new rules. I bought my Dare 'Genitta G4 series 2' in 2008 and had the Zetec engine fiitted with carbs on the basis that it would be allowed to run in one of the Historics' classes.  I really enjoyed my outing with you guys on Saturday at Kirkistown. Can I play some more.

                                               Regards,

As a follow on to that, have the eligibility rules changed or were the '80s etc. cars allowed in to boost the grid a bit? or perhaps they were in the invitation class? It is important because there are some who are working on cars to suit the existing rules and once the goalposts move, everything changes.

Not much chance of getting clarification on the forum, it appears to be moribund.

Super car John

Invitation class was proposed, voted on and accepted a few years back but never implemented.  Appears that the minutes were never written up or conveniently lost and nobody has any recollection of the event apart from myself and a couple of others. Additionally, a late change to admissible engine regs will probably exclude the Zetec as it is a late engine and sans distributor.

There is no provision for Continuation cars such as the Dare Ginetta in the current regs.

Clive Brandon is eligibility officer, suggest you contact him for clarification.

Thanks for that Eamonn,

I think you would need to have the 'invitation class' as it covers all sorts without having to breach the current rules. The Grid at Kirkistown would be perfectly acceptable provided the 'ineligible cars' are in the invitation class.

The eligibility issue, or lack of it, is only an impediment to point scoring in the various HRCA championships.

You can still race at Mondello or Kirkistown in the Historic races by submitting entry forms in the usual way.

But surely there would need to be some control over the entries, or a gaggle of Radical's or sumsuch could enter which would spoil the purpose of the race?

Thanks Eamonn on two counts I will contact Clive Brandon. Sam makes a good point in controlling race entries, and you are right too I am not going to get much joy on the Forum. It looks as if it will be of academic interest only to me anyway.

                                      Best regards,
